Homemade Playdough Recipe

Homemade PlaydoughTry this simple and easy recipe to make your own homemade playdough.

Homemade Playdough is cheap and easy to do. It’s made using everyday edible ingredients. Best of all it’s non-toxic and safe for children.

I have made Playdough numerous times following this recipe and it always turns out great with a wonderful consistency for play. You can do as many batches as you like and add different colouring to each. Follow the recipe and don’t be tempted to omit any of the ingredients.

Homemade Playdough Recipe

What you will need

  • A medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Airtight Container

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Plain Flour
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • 1/2 Cup of Salt
  • 1 Tsp of Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp of Cream of Tartar
  • Food Colouring

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix all ingredients.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. The Playdough is ready to remove from the heat when it loses it’s stickiness.
  4. Cool the dough until able to handle. Knead on a floured surface.
  5. Roll into a ball and wrap in Clingwrap. Store the Playdough in a sealed container. An empty icecream container works well.
  6. The Playdough should keep for at least a month. The dough will harden if left exposed to air.
